Who: Mike Schreffler, District Manager – East Texas (previously Senior Franchise Consultant)
How long have you been with Villa: 13 years
How has Villa helped in your development: Villa has helped me in many things within the restaurant business, from organization and negotiations to running a profitable business. Additionally, Villa has also helped me in developing other team members through computer-based training, as well as hands on follow up – Villa has developed systems to help make my job easier.
What keeps you with Villa: Overall, the sense of family...I can be myself with my colleagues, and everyone is willing to hear my ideas/contributions. I know most everyone in the field as well as the office. I feel a personal connection to everyone in the company.
I would also cite the company culture – Villa creates a very inclusive and warm environment. The focus is clear: the company needs to be profitable as well as caring for the team. Recognizing everyone from the Dishwasher to the Divisional Vice President is part of the way the company holds our core values high on the list of initiatives.
What sets Villa apart in the industry: I often say that this is the biggest Mom and Pop company you can work for. That’s a compliment in that the CEO and President are very approachable, and that all levels of management are focused on a common goal. You’re not a number in a sea of employees, you are a person that has thoughts and can make a change.
I would recommend Villa to anyone that wants to be a part of an organization that is growing and constantly striving to be better in every area. It’s an organization where you can go as far as you want, so long as you’re willing to work hard.
What are you most proud of when it comes to Villa: I’m proud of the heritage of the company from where it came from and where we are now. Also, I feel proud of all the things I have contributed to help put the company where it is today.
